Yongpyong is Asia's Mecca for winter sports. "Yongpyong" itself is synonymous with the history of Korean skiing, and is recognized worldwide as a ski resort that is completely equipped with the latest hardware and software. It has built a reputation for excellence among skiers and tourists all over the world, having successfully hosted the World Cup Ski Competition in 1998 and 2000, as well as the Winter Asian Games in 1999. And in cooperation with Gangwon-do Province, it is leading the way to be in the world's spotlight as the main site for the Winter Olympics in 2010.

With a capacity for about 20,000 winter games participants, Yongpyong Resort secures 31 diverse slopes, including 6 that have been FIS approved for international competitions, and 15 lift facilities. It also houses Dragon Plaza, the biggest ski house in South Korea which is used by the highest number of skiers and snowboarders. It is also equipped with a super high pipe that is larger than regulation size, as well as a terrain park (Dragon Park), which has been getting rave reviews from snowboarders worldwide.
